The Hudson range of riser recliner chairs and motion furniture are all hand built in the United Kingdom. In this article we’ll take you step-by-step through the process.
Design
Whenever we launch a new style of riser recliner chair, it goes through a rigorous design and concept testing process. With over 15 years of experience in designing and manufacturing lift and recline chairs we, know exactly what is required to create products that are comfortable, durable and reliable.
Construction
Our recliner chair bases are formed from durable high-quality timber. The timber is cut to the required sizes then screwed, glued, and stapled together. Each arm is carefully shaped out of the wood to facilitate the armrests with ample weight support.
Upholstery
Each Hudson riser recliner chair is upholstered in your choice of our Stafford fabrics, which are woven in the Belgium mill. The fabric is then cut to the correct chair pattern and sewn by our devoted seamstresses. This process is still very much carried out by hand and the skills required for matching the fabric cuts together have been developed over many years. This gives our chairs the homely ‘handmade’ character that they’re so famous for as well as ensuring they are prepared to the utmost quality. The individual cuts of fabric are then upholstered to the chair, with special attention given to the areas of most use. Finally, we fill the chairs with our finest fabric filler, to enhance your comfort and maximise your relaxation.
The process is still very much carried out by hand and the skills required for matching the fabric cuts together have been developed over many years.
Made to Order Options
We do offer several made to order options on our riser recliner chairs, but this will always come at an extra cost and involve longer lead times (around 6 weeks from order to delivery.) You can choose to have any style of chair made up in any one of our fabrics or leathers. You could pair a Horizon, Letterbox, Cascade, Waterfall, or Lateral back with your desired style of chair. The Lateral back is one of our bestsellers for its additional built-in lumbar support. Depending on the extent of your mobility needs, you can select a mechanism with varying levels of support such as our patented Premier Riser Recliner technology. The Premier Riser Recliner allows you to individually control the headrest, lumbar, backrest and leg rest to find the most comfortable position for you.
